U.S. Department of Education Message to School Officials: Access Support for Arts Education
October 23, 2024
In a culmination of years of advocacy, earlier this month the U.S. Department of Education’s Deputy Secretary issued a letter (PDF) to state education officials reinforcing the ways federal funding can be used to support arts education within the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). Arts advocates can use this letter to urge state and local education agencies to increase access to arts education for all students. Thanks to our members for joining with arts advocates nationwide to seek this important policy statement, and for continuing to advocate locally.
