NEA to Hold Summit on Arts and Culture
On January 30, 2024 the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) will co-host, with the White House Domestic Policy Council, a first-of-its-kind national convening bringing together leaders from across sectors, including government officials; policymakers; artists; arts advocates; academics; philanthropic, labor, and community leaders; and the public. “Healing, Bridging, Thriving: A Summit on Arts and Culture in our Communities” will explore the contribution of the arts to health and well-being, as well as drive equitable outcomes for communities across the country. Participants will consider ideas, policies, and actions that can better integrate and elevate the arts and humanities throughout the country. The summit will be open to virtual attendees via live webcast.
NEA Grants Support Orchestral Collaborations, Celebrations, Student and Community Programming, and More
Orchestras in 52 communities will receive FY24 support from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) to present special commissions, collaborate with local partners, feature emerging as well as familiar works, support artist residencies, bring engagement and education programs to local and regional communities, and offer instrument training programs for young musicians. 38 orchestras are direct grant recipients of Grants for Arts Projects (GAP), Round 1 awards totaling $1,053,000 million and 14 orchestras are receiving Challenge America grants totaling $140,000, plus there are a great number of orchestral- and instrument training program-related projects receiving NEA grants. The League of American Orchestras maintains a year-by-year listing of the most recent grants to orchestras online, with complete descriptions of all supported projects available via the agency’s grant search tool. Find the list of orchestra and orchestra-related grantees for FY24 GAP Round 1 and Challenge America on the League’s dedicated webpage.
