Creating Fairer Audition and Tenure Processes
RegisterMarch 18, 2025
2:00pm Eastern / 11:00am Pacific
This workshop will support orchestra stakeholders in their own identification and management of bias in audition and tenure processes. Jessica Schmidt of Orchestrate Inclusion will offer context around the importance of practicing recognition of implicit bias in the field and will lead group exploration of auditions/hiring processes, trial weeks, and tenure. The two-hour session is especially designed for individuals in the field who have direct connection to audition and tenure policy creation, decision-making and implementation. It will encourage shared examination of where and how biases can appear in audition and tenure settings, equipping attendees with early-stage strategies to improve fairness and inclusion.
This workshop will be run twice; first on Monday, March 17, and again on Tuesday, March 11. Please register for whichever time works best for you to attend live, as this session will NOT be recorded.
