Opportunities in Arts Giving Through Next-Gen Philanthropy

We are living through the greatest intergenerational transfer of wealth in our nation’s history as $30 trillion is being handed from one generation (Baby Boomers) to the next (mostly Gen-X and Millennials). Studies suggest that these generations—properly engaged—have the potential to be the most philanthropic. But how do we reach these donors and get them to include us in their charitable giving plans?

During this two-hour online webinar, John Hicks, CFRE will dive into the numbers, the motivations, the opportunities, and the challenges surrounding next-gen philanthropy for orchestras. Join us to learn best practices to engage, motivate, and encourage giving by these emerging donors.

About the Speaker

John Hicks, CFRE is Principal and Founder of DLBHICKS LLC, a consulting practice that provides fundraising guidance and support to nonprofit organizations from grassroots to global. Over a consulting career of more than 30 years, John has worked with a diverse and broad group of more than 100 nonprofits both in the U.S. and abroad. He is a member of the faculty of Columbia University’s Nonprofit Management program and is also an instructor for Candid. John has been awarded “Stellar Speaker” status by The Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) and has appeared as a featured speaker for The Chronicle of Philanthropy, the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), and Institute of Fundraising (UK). He is a contributing author to After the Grant (Foundation Center, 2010) and to The Nonprofit Handbook: Fund Raising (Wiley, 2001). A Certified Fund Raising Executive, John is a former member of the Board of Directors of AFP International and is past president of the AFP New York City Chapter.

CFRE stands for Certified Fund Raising Executive and is an internationally recognized certification in the fundraising field administered by CFRE International. CFRE is the first level of certification and may be renewed every three years.
