Federal budget repeats recent history, proposing elimination of NEA
With bipartisan support from Congress, the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) received an increase for fiscal year 2020 for a total funding level of $162.25 million, while the Assistance for Arts Education (AAE) program fund at the U.S. Department of Education actually received a $1 million increase for a total funding level of $30 million.

NEA's First Round of FY20 Grants Support Orchestral Concerts and Community Programming
Sixty orchestras will present live music, instrumental music instruction for young students, commissions, festivals, and engagement programs to their communities with support from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) in its first round of major grant funding in the 2020 fiscal year.

FY24 NEA Grants to Orchestras
52 orchestras are direct grant recipients of Grants for Arts Projects (GAP), Part 1 awards totaling $1.255 million and 15 orchestras are receiving Challenge America grants totaling $150,000, plus there are a great number of orchestral- and instrument training program-related projects receiving NEA grants.

NEA CARES Act Grants Announced
Today the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) announced federal grants of $50,000 each to support personnel and facilities costs for 64 orchestras nationwide in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Congress designated $75 million of funding for the NEA to administer within the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, signed into law on March 27, 2020.

NEA Grants Support 41 Orchestra Projects in Second Round of FY20 Funding
The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) has awarded 41 direct grants to orchestral projects through its FY20 Art Works Part 2 grant category, totaling $867,000 in funding, as well almost two dozen grants to related projects. In all, the Endowment awarded more than 1,000 grants totaling $25,334,900 through Art Works Part 2, as well as $3.643 million in Our Town awards and $780,000 in research grants.

Preparing to Apply for American Rescue Plan Grants from the NEA (July 14, 2021)
The American Rescue Plan funds administered by the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) will be awarded to support jobs in the arts and culture sector, keep the doors open to nonprofit organizations nationwide, and assist the field in its recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. This specialized grant process is distinct from other NEA grantmaking opportunities, and interest is encouraged from all eligible applicants, whether or not organizations are prior NEA grantees.

FY18 Art Works (Part 2)
The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) awarded 87 grants to orchestras through the Grants for Arts Projects categories in FY2018, totaling $2,217,500. In FY18 orchestras directly received NEA grant support through Challenge America and Art Works in the discipline categories of music, arts education, and media arts. Awards to all arts disciplines through the NEA’s largest grant categories – Art Works and Challenge America – numbered 1,976 and totaled $48,871,000.
