Steep Artist Visa Fee Increases and Policy Changes to Take Effect October 2, 2020
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has denied the requests outlined in detailed comments (PDF) submitted by the League and national nonprofit arts stakeholders in response to the DHS December proposal to impose very steep increases to some of its filing fees, including for O and P artist visas applications. DHS finalized (PDF) its fee increases and policy changes, to take effect beginning October 2, 2020

Preparing to Apply for American Rescue Plan Grants from the NEA (July 14, 2021)
The American Rescue Plan funds administered by the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) will be awarded to support jobs in the arts and culture sector, keep the doors open to nonprofit organizations nationwide, and assist the field in its recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. This specialized grant process is distinct from other NEA grantmaking opportunities, and interest is encouraged from all eligible applicants, whether or not organizations are prior NEA grantees.

Overtime Policy Developments and Resources
The U.S. Department of Labor (DoL) announced changes to overtime compensation requirements, with new requirements taking effect on January 1, 2020. Final regulations issued by the DoL will increase the number of workers eligible for overtime compensation, with a more moderate approach than previously proposed under the Obama Administration.

Tips for Traveling by Air
Musicians have long encountered difficulty and uncertainty when traveling with musical instruments by air. Immediately following the events of September 11, 2001, a national coalition of concerned organizations including the League of American Orchestras and the American Federation of Musicians, began influencing policy and crafting tips for making reservations, packing instruments, and calmly dealing with last-minute problems.
