FY16 NEA Grants to Orchestras
The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) awarded 112 grants to orchestras through the Grants for Arts Projects categories in FY2016, totaling $2,800,500. In FY16 orchestras directly received NEA grant support through Challenge America and Art Works in the discipline categories of music, arts education, and media arts. Awards to all arts disciplines through the NEA’s largest grant categories – Art Works and Challenge America – numbered 2,128 and totaled $53,721,000 million.

FY18 NEA Grants to Orchestras
The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) awarded 87 grants to orchestras through the Grants for Arts Projects categories in FY2018, totaling $2,217,500. In FY18 orchestras directly received NEA grant support through Challenge America and Art Works in the discipline categories of music, arts education, and media arts. Awards to all arts disciplines through the NEA’s largest grant categories – Art Works and Challenge America – numbered 1,976 and totaled $48,871,000.

NEA Announces Guidelines for American Rescue Plan Grants
On June 23, 2021, the National Endowment for the Arts publicized grant guidelines for prospective applicants for American Rescue Plan Grants. These Congressionally allocated funds are to help support jobs in the arts sector, keep the doors open to arts organizations, and assist the field in responding to and recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Preparing to Apply for American Rescue Plan Grants from the NEA (July 14, 2021)
The American Rescue Plan funds administered by the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) will be awarded to support jobs in the arts and culture sector, keep the doors open to nonprofit organizations nationwide, and assist the field in its recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. This specialized grant process is distinct from other NEA grantmaking opportunities, and interest is encouraged from all eligible applicants, whether or not organizations are prior NEA grantees.
