League Statement on Travel Ban Executive Order
The music that orchestras play and the communities they serve are global and include people and cultures from the seven countries that are now subject to the travel ban issued by executive order on January 27. We firmly believe that concerns related to national security can be addressed while also continuing to welcome people beyond our borders.

A Time to Act
The recent events in Charlottesville have escalated divisiveness and intolerance in America to a frightening degree. The persistence of racism, anti-Semitism, white supremacy, Nazism, and other hate groups continues to be cause for profound concern as they threaten America’s founding principles of equality. Indeed, our Constitution, to say nothing of the countless lives lost defending it, offers an unequivocal basis for complete condemnation of these ideologies.

League President Comments on Incident at NEA-hosted Meeting
As President and CEO of the League of American Orchestras, I was present at the April 26 meeting of arts service organization leaders hosted by the National Endowment for the Arts, in which a conversation on “Diversity, Inclusivity, and Equity in the Arts” occurred. I was seated at a table of eight that included both Michael Butera, Executive Director of National Association for Music Education, and Keryl McCord, Operations Director for Alternate Roots, and was tapped to report out to the full group on the results of our conversation.

League announces office move and additional plans to strengthen member services
To strengthen its services to members, the League of American Orchestras moved its office this winter to 520 Eighth Avenue, between 36th and 37th streets in New York’s historic Garment District.
