Arts organizations around the country are have been forced to shut their doors and cancel performances due to COVID-19. However, our member orchestras have not stopped doing what they do best – sharing their music with the world and serving their communities with passion and empathy.
As the only national organization dedicated solely to the orchestral experience, the League of American Orchestras has been working tirelessly in these past weeks to advocate for the inclusion of orchestras in the federal relief packages and to deliver the vital information and learning that orchestras need now to navigate the current crisis. Our goal: to ensure that the field comes out of these unprecedented times stronger and that the music keeps playing.
These are challenging times and your support is more important now than ever! Our ability to play this essential role on behalf of our members, the field, and the communities that our orchestras serve is only possible with the support of our donors.
Federal stimulus package includes new charitable giving incentives: Building on years of advocacy by orchestras in partnership with the broader nonprofit sector, a new universal charitable deduction is available, allowing the growing number of taxpayers who do not itemize their returns to receive a tax deduction of up to $300 for cash charitable donations to 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations during calendar year 2020. For taxpayers that itemize returns, the limit on the total percentage of Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) eligible for the charitable deduction has been lifted. The limit on corporate contributions has been lifted to 25%.
