Mid-Winter Managers Meeting, January 29-30
The League invites executive directors (and for youth orchestras, administrators) to attend the annual Mid-Winter Managers Meeting, January 29-30, 2017, Sunday afternoon through Monday, to be held at The Westin Dallas Downtown in Dallas, Texas. This is a great opportunity to meet with fellow executives, share ideas, and learn the latest about what is happening in the field today.
Cost: $245 ($210 for youth orchestra staff)
Presenter: Ilsa Flanagan
Orchestras in communities of all sizes confront ongoing challenges in making the case for new and renewed investment in this art form. The key to clearly conveying the relevance of orchestras to funders, government, and the public at large requires getting inside the heads of those we wish to influence, and understanding what assumptions and values drive their priorities. Learn how our partners at the National Human Services Assembly are tackling a similar challenge by creating new communications strategies, fueled by insights from The Frameworks Institute, that can build value and understanding across political, racial, and socio-economic lines. Join a conversation that will help you design first steps towards a new strategy for collaboration and communication in your community.
Ilsa Flanagan is Program Director of the National Reframing Initiative, which seeks to create a new narrative for human services, encourage more vibrant civic participation, and deepen support for effective programs. The National Reframing Initiative is a program of the National Human Services Assembly, a Washington, DC-based association comprised of over 80 of the largest national nonprofit human service organizations.
Enjoy two days of meeting with your peers. Agendas for your individual group meetings can be found here:

Seminar: Adaptive Leadership
Presenter: Horst Abraham
Adaptive Leadership is an approach to making progress on complex challenges that don’t have an easy or known path forward. It builds our individual and organizational capacity to change and learn our way to solutions when there are no clear answers.
In this seminar, learn how to lead through the most critical challenges facing you and your orchestra.
Horst Abraham, member of the Executive Education faculty, University of Michigan Ross School of Business, has been working intensively with orchestra CEO’s for the past four years and serves as a faculty member of the National Arts Strategies Chief Executive Program.
The League has reserved a block of rooms at The Westin Dallas Downtown at the group-discount rate of $185 per night plus tax. Reservations can be made by calling
